Description
This is the back of the Farmington Winery, or what a lot of locals call the "Haunted Winey". Built in 1899 by the "Detroit United Railway" (DUR), it was a powerhouse with a central railway station that connected commuters by trolly to nearby towns such as, Pontiac, Northville and Detroit. After the DUR left it was bought and converted into a winery but now is used mostly for office space and a few retail shops. It sits on Grand River Ave., near Orchard Lake Rd., in Farmington, Mi, and while you're driving down the avenue it's a landmark you can hardy miss with it's giant chimney, (not seen here). This old buildings is interesting to me because of the different types and sizes of windows, bricks and architect styles, some original and some added on that don't match. It's the kind of thing I love to photograph and luckily I only live about a 5 minute walk from it too!
